It is Sundance film festival time, and everybody flocks to the Mountains of Park city Utah, to see the new celebrity’s roles in the upcoming films. The Festival is currently under way, which brings me back to a thought that I had a few years ago when I was working private security for the festival. I was working in one of the big tents that a majority of the celebs, came and checked in, and got pampered and did interviews.

It was cool to see all the stars and have the privilege to be able to protect the area that they were in. It was all fine and dandy, until I started to notice how much stuff was wasted on them in the festival. They had a full bar setup to mix them any drinks that they wanted, they had an assorted variety of Italian soda’s that they were offered, and they had the bottled water of the festival, who sponsored many of the events.

I was absolutely shocked at how many cases of wasted water bottles there were. The celebs would come in and pick a couple up open one take a swig and then see an old friend set it down forget all about it, talk with the friend for a while, and then go and pick up another one out of the tub, and be on their way, and leave the other ones behind to be thrown away with only one swig taken out of it. You have no idea, how many different times, and variety’s of this story that I saw in the 12 hour days that I worked in the tent.

The biggest thing I saw with the whole festival is the amount of money that is put into it and wasted by spectators, and the celebrity’s, I have nothing against either, but I just can’t even fathom the amount of money that was put into the event, and shot down the porcelain goddess, because people are so careless and its free at the time, just because its a sponsor, where if I went down to the local gas station, I would be paying $1.29 for a bottle of the sponsored water right now.

Right now the economy is looking pretty bad, but I wonder how much of it could be prevented, by just being a little more conservative in our dealings.
