New year’s resolutions? Or a vicious cycle?

Posted on 21 January 2008 by Beau Graves

So two years ago I was talking with a guy that opened a gym in my area, and we were talking about how the Gym was going, and how things were starting to grow. He said that overall things were really picking up, but he wishes that they would have been able to be open when the new year had hit, but instead they opened 2 months too late.

Well I thought what difference does that make? well I should have thought that, but didn’t, the biggest time for Gym’s is every January of the new year, because there are so many people that set their new years resolution’s that they are going to lose weight, so what do they do? they go to their local Gym and sign up for a membership.

Well I thought that was interesting, and that I was not going to be apart of that select few, that takes fitness as a new years resolution, you should take fitness seriously and be practicing it all year long.

Well that was all just a short while out of high school and I was still fit and in shape, and the big buff guy. So this is how it all plays out, two years later after being married and having life fly at you every moment I lost sight of that seriousness, and staying fit. This year the wife and I decided that this was the year to get into shape, so what do we do? we got to our local Gym and sign up for a membership, and fall victim to the vicious cycle, subliminally without notice. I did not even think about the Hypocritical philosophy, that I had two years prior.

But I guess that is how life goes and you take life as it comes at you one day at a time, so good luck to all you out there with your New years resolution, and be careful to think the evil thoughts “It won’t happen to me”
